WHAT DOES TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS DO?
Touch Mouse Tools allows for a better usability experience on Windows when using multiple monitors, particularly where a mouse and touchscreen are in use together. For example, touchscreen events normally cause the mouse pointer to be moved to the last location touched on the touchscreen. However with Touch Mouse Tools, movement is resumed from the last mouse movement location instead. This allows you to use your mouse and touchscreen independently. This is particularly useful if you are using a secondary touchscreen as a control panel – for example as a mix console on a Digital Audio Workstation – while also controlling your main monitor via a mouse. Keyboard focus is also handled to ensure a seamless experience. Touch Mouse Tools is also great for flight simulators and all sorts of other applications where you would like to use one or more touchscreens like a control panel. Also for general productive desktop usage, we think that you will find that Touch Mouse Tools greatly improves the user experience on multiple monitors over the Windows default.
WHAT ELSE DOES TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS DO?
Touch Mouse Tools can also be configured to confine your mouse pointer to one monitor at a time. Rather than moving freely between screens, Touch Mouse Tools can allow you to switch the pointer between screens by pressing Alt+Q (or another user-defined macro). We recommend enabling this setting to get the most out of your multi-screen setup.
Touch Mouse Tools can optionally redirect keyboard focus to the last window in use before a touchscreen event. We recommend this setting as it ensures that your keyboard input is sent to where you would expect it to be sent.
A configurable macro (defaulting to Alt+SHIFT+T) can be used to enable or disable Touch Mouse Tools at any time.
HOW DO I INSTALL TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS?
Please download the Windows installer executable from our homepage. Windows SmartScreen may attempt to block the installation, in which case simply click ‘More Info‘ -> ‘Run Anyway‘.
HOW DO I REMOVE TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS FROM MY MACHINE?
Touch Mouse Tools can be completely uninstalled by selecting the program from ‘Control Panel‘ -> ‘Programs and Features‘. The uninstaller has been designed to ensure that no programs, files, folders or registry entries are left behind after uninstalling.
DOES TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS SUPPORT MORE THAN TWO MONITORS?
Yes, it will work with up to 32 connected monitors.
MY MOUSE JUMPS AT THE SCREEN EDGE WHEN ‘CONFINE MOUSE TO ONE SCREEN…’ IS ENABLED
To prevent the mouse pointer from jumping when at the screen edge next to a neighbouring screen, ensure that you disable ‘Ease cursor movement between displays’ in your Windows->System->Display settings. Alternatively, rearrange your screens using the Windows Display Settings so that they are either ‘corner to corner’ or so that adjacent edges are perfectly lined up.
CAN I USE TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS WITH ONLY ONE MONITOR?
Yes. In this case the mouse pointer and touch input will still be separated from one another on the single screen available.
DOES THIS SOFTWARE INTERFERE WITH GAMES / OTHER APPLICATIONS?
We have worked hard to make this software run seamlessly alongside other programs. Touch Mouse Tools will automatically pause itself if another application is setting bounding constraints on the mouse pointer. This would normally happen if you open a full-screen game, for example. If you discover a problem where the software interferes with another application, please contact us and we will attempt to find a solution.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MONITORS ARE ADDED / REMOVED OR SWITCHED ON AND OFF?
Touch Mouse Tools will detect the changes and should run without any issue.
HOW DO I TURN ON OR OFF FEATURES
As of version 1.31, all features and macros of Touch Mouse Tools can be easily configured from a Graphical User Interface which can be opened by clicking the tray icon for Touch Mouse Tools. Alternatively, the interface can be opened using the Start Menu.
IS TOUCH MOUSE TOOLS COMPATIBLE WITH MY VERSION OF WINDOWS?
Touch Mouse Tools is compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8, 7 and Windows Vista. Compatibility with other versions of windows is untested. x64 (64-bit) and x86 (32-bit) versions of Windows are both supported and the installer will automatically deploy the version appropriate to your machine.
